Sophia`s Liquid Metal Ring Sophia loved life. She was not afraid of much...and took on the world as if anything was possible. When she decided to study sculpture, everyone said,"Why would you pursue sculpture, you won't be able to do anything with that!" Sophia disagreed. For her, life was sculpture...and everything she looked at was art; from the sadness of those who suffered, to the changing colors and forms of fruit, the sound inside a tunnel, or the way people's hair looked when they got up in the morning. She considered the world beautiful, and dressing herself, one of the delights of being alive.

One of her favorite rings, was one by Sergio Gutierrez, famous sculptor of the cool, exciting and downright wicked line called Liquid Metal Jewelry. She had one in every color. The best quality crystal money could buy, Swarovski. The fine, silver plated ball chain used in these pieces is soldered and antiqued for a wonderful affect. They are flexible laying down, but do not stretch.

Ship`s Candlestick Silver Plated Once...about 15 years ago, I traveled to Italy on a tight budget. I wandered into a medieval town with many towers, which hovered 1000 feet above sea level, just South of Florence, and North/West of Sienna. Above the rolling hills of Tuscany, San Gimignano was a thriving Etruscan center in 200-300BC. It began its life as a town in the 10th century taking its name from the Holy Bishop of Modena, St. Gimignano, who is said to have saved the village from the barbarian hordes.

I climbed to the top of the cobble-stoned village, and discovered a little antique shop with a sweet little old man. I had never been so enchanted! I left with one of the greatest treasures of my life. It was a wall mounted Ship's Candlestick that pivots with the movement of an ancient sailing vessel, in order to remain level. As a result of this particular feature, it doubles as a table-top candlestick.

Not long after I left, I began regretting not buying the sister piece; though I'd already spent two days of my food budget on the first one. For eight years, I regretted not buying that matching piece, until finally, I opened my shop, Studio Nouveau. On my first buying trip, I raced with great anticipation, back to the little old man in San Gimignano to see if, just maybe, the sister candlestick was waiting for me.

Much to my surprise, it was!!! The little old man told me that this was a reproduction of an Etruscan candlestick...now being reproduced in Florence. It remains a personal favorite of all my hunts for "Objects of Beauty".

I use six of them at home...one on each side of my arched window, two on the tables at my bedside, one in the kitchen, and one in the living room, which I carry when the power goes out, or during my candlelit dinner parties.

These are my favorite gift to give couples...because they appear to be loved, universally, by men and women. They also come in antique brass. (Find them listed separately.)

Psyche ~ A Liquid Metal Choker "I live with him", she wrote...
"He is much like Tarzan in character, spending most of his time on the land, amidst the birds and elements. His hands are brown from toiling the earth. He runs like a mountain lion, with passion and purpose filling his lungs so fully, the wind heats them. He flies past my windows so that I catch only glimpses of his tall, tanned body. His beard is mountainous. His eyes are the trees. His labor is home.

When he feels my approach, Gabriel withdraws, crouching behind trees. I feel his presence, constantly, and intensely. A couple of years ago, I reached out to him, seeking to connect. In our last life together, I did something (which I don’t now remember) to upset him so terribly, that he vowed silence for not only that life, but for the next one. Unfortunately, he is very stubborn and willful, and has stood by that vow. What he didn’t remember was that we are soul mates. Being such, he cannot control what happens in our dream time...which is where we now meet. More often than any other entity and quite often, Gabriel meets me in that dream world dimension. He’d forgotten what I mean to him when he made that vow, you see. He holds me sometimes... as he if he will never let me go. He reminds me that I am his life. And he says such things with a look. So much of our communication is gestural and telepathic. It is instinctual, and feels skin close to Mother earth, and so right; so correct...that I would forfeit, if I was able, speech...just to be with him.

Though I am whole, he is the missing part of me. It is his polar energy which fills me...and so quenches my psyche. And as I am telling this tale, I have just stumbled upon the story of a beautiful princess loved and visited by Cupid at night, who tells her she must not try to see him. She is Psyche, the personification of the soul!"

Port Caramel Covered in Cocoa and Chili Small (2oz.) The kind of people who follow this unusual blend of tastes, time after time, back into our store, are often the artists, eccentric types, and epicurians. As they are popping a sample into their mouths they always say, "Oh it's not hot at all...oh wait a minute...now I'm beginning to feel a little heat in the back of my throat!" We have these chocolates handmade with just the right amount of spice, so that the average person's palette can handle the spice. Some delicate palettes find them sizzling however.

They are great with a glass of port, with an apple and cheese, or one their own. The combination of sweet chewy caramel, with the distinct chocolate powder roll and then the final Jamaican spice blend dusting the top is like no other candy we have ever tasted. Yes, we've been known to binge on them...regularly!

Maria`s Cross ~ Liquid Metal Necklace Designed by Sergio Gutierrez, Maria's Cross is a riveting synthesis...where iconic image meets the wave of the future. Micro chips, which are used in the circuit boards of computers, here are embedded onto a cross base, creating an organic surface design. Maria is the smallest of the Liquid Metal Cross Necklaces. Hammer/Multi Tool The coolest tool we have found...this multi tool has a feature that most don't...a nice little weighted hammer. Not only does it have a hammer; it also has a saw, needle-nose pliers, both standard and Phillps-head screw driver tips, a razor sharp knife, a nail puller, a hex bit holder, and a Velcro pouch that slips onto a belt!

The first time I used mine was on a camping trip at Strawberry Bluegrass Music Festival.
I'd never camped alone.
